Margaret Fogarty Tomboy Tools 303-482-1498 720-935-1324 mdfogarty1@aol.com FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE In partnership with the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, Denver-based tool company launches program to help in the fight against breast cancer August 30, 2006 – Denver, CO – Tomboy Tools announced today that they will introduce their first special edition pink tool in partnership with the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. On September 1, 2006 the women’s tool and home improvement educational company will make the “Pink for a Purpose” hammer available for $14.95, and donate $6.00 for each hammer sold. Tomboy Tools has committed to donating a minimum of $100,000 by August 30, 2007, but the goal is to sell 100,000 pink hammers over the next year, contributing $600,000 to the Komen Foundation. Tomboy Tools offers home improvement parties (think Pampered Chef and Tupperware) and makes tools for women, but has stayed away from pink tools in the past to get away from the stereotypes that exist about women and tools. Tomboy Tools sells high quality, ergonomically designed hand and power tools at Tool Parties and educates women about home improvement projects. Tomboy Tools will now help bring awareness and educate women about breast cancer as well. “One of our slogans at Tomboy Tools has always been No Pink Tools,” said Janet Rickstrew, Tomboy Tools co-founder and CEO. “But, when we had the opportunity to partner with the Komen Foundation we decided to make an exception because this program gives us an opportunity to have a real impact in the fight against breast cancer.” To order your Pink for a Purpose hammer today, go to www.tomboytools.com. The mission of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation is to eradicate breast cancer as a life-threatening disease by advancing research, education, screening and treatment. “A key to our success at the Komen Foundation is that we collaborate with a variety of organizations to provide creative ways for people to make a difference in the fight against breast cancer,” said Cindy Schneible, vice president of resource development for the Komen Foundation. “We are proud to have the opportunity to partner with Tomboy Tools to increase breast cancer awareness and allow women nationwide to make a valuable contribution to breast cancer research and community outreach programs.” For questions about breast health or breast cancer, visit the Komen Foundation's Web site at www.komen.org or call the Komen Foundation's National Toll-Free Breast Care Helpline at 1.800 I'M AWARE® (1.800.462.9273).
